Labomat News N°22

The period of exhibitions...

The beginning of each year is always propitious for many professional exhibitions. We make a rapid report of the three shows in which we recently took part at the end of this document.

We moved since July 2002 but our previous address is often still used... Of course, we know that our previous catalogues and a number of our commercial brochures which we distribute for so many years now still mention our "Pleyel tower" adress. We would be thus grateful if you could note and give our current adress to the different services of your company :

LABOMAT ESSOR
37 boulevard Anatole France
93200 Saint-Denis
For you to better visualize this change, here is the first photo of our new premises and its very recent neon sign.

Instruments & Specialities----

And now, the news...

TABER - Improvement of the abrasive wheels

Taber Wheels

The Taber company announces an improvement of the quality of the Calibrase wheels CS-10, CS-10F and CS-17.

For Mr Gubala, Quality Assurance Manager at Taber Industries :
"We maintained abrasion rates equal to the old version by using the same abrasive grain, and have achieved a lower standard deviation in abrasion test results. Thus, we are confident that the improved wheels will provide a higher level of repeatability and consistency in your test results. With the implementation of cutting edge technology, we are also able to offer new features including an extended shelf life; less color transfer from the wheel to the specimen; and the ‘Easy-Glide’ wheel hub."

THICKNESS -Road marking Gauge TQC SDM

TQC SDM makes it possible to measure quickly and in a precise way the thickness of marking out of the ground. It is a robust aluminium comparator designed for a use in difficult medium. It is enough to partly position the apparatus on marking and partly on the unsealed road. The thickness is indicated instantaneously on the digital bill-poster.

Specifications:
Beach thickness: 0 - 25 mm
Resolution: 0.01 mm

WEATHERING TEST - QUV SE - New adjustments

Improvement of the irradiance control for QUV

The QUV weathering tester equiped with the Solar Eye system uses a CR-10 calibration radiometer to guarantee the traceability of the irradiance values given by the machine. We point out that this radiometer must be returned to us once a year for certification. The spectro radiometer used as a master by Q-Panel was improved. Next time your CR-10 will be returned to Q-Panel for re-calibration, it will be set to a new sensitivity. After this internal modification, it will be more accurate. A "Calibration Version 2" label will be stuck on it to differentiate it from the others. If you want that your samples receive the same irradiance rate, it is necessary to modify the set point (W/m²/nm) on your QUV.

New lamps UVB 313-EL

UVB 313 lamps showed some differences when they were used with the traditional QUV or with the QUV equipped with Solar Eye system. Thus, each type of cabinets had its own model of UVB 313 lamps. To minimise future confusion, Q-Panel introduce the new UVB 313-EL lamp which will equip now all the different models of QUV cabinet. They are recognizable by their gilded ends and by the gilded labels on the box.
It is not recommended to mix in a machine the "old generation" UVB 313 lamps with the new UVB 313 EL lamps.

VISCOSITY - New CAP2000 + Rheometer !

We announced in December 2002 (see our Labomat News N°20 the launch of the new one-speed Cone&Plate viscometer CAP1000+ from Brookfield.

Brookfield continues the improvement of its range with the new CAP2000+. It is now possible to reach lower speed (low shear rate) that gives access to many news applications. Small sample size, rapid sample temperature control, rugged design, easy to use and to clean...
All these arguments are real advantages for the use in laboratory but also in production environment, where many of other instruments cannot last...

Wide range:
Viscosity: 0.2 - 15,000 Poises
Shear Rate: 10 - 13,000 s-1
Temperature: 5-75ºC or 50-235ºC
Speed: 5-1000 RPM

Low sample size
Rapid sample temperature control
CAPCALC32 Software for data analysis
Easy to use and fast cleaning
Conform to ASTM D4287, ISO 2884, BS 3900

Seminars for Brookfield viscometers users

We planned two new sessions in June and November in our premises in Saint-Denis.
We will present the wide range of viscometers and accessories and will be able to do measurements on your samples in order to illustrate our matter.

EXHIBITIONS

SITS 2003 - Surfaces treatments Exhibition

We took part in the international exhibition for surfaces treatments (SITS) which took place in Paris from the 11 to 14 March 2003. We were represented there on two stands:

  • quality control and measuring instruments.
  • Hooks, suspension systems and masking.

As always, this show was source for us of a great number of contacts in spite of a rather morose general context and a reduced number of exhibitors. It was also for us the occasion to inaugurate our new structure of exposure.

Instrurama show in Bruxelles - Belgium

Labomat at Instrurama 2003

The professional fair Instrurama took place in Brussels from the 02 to 04 April 2003. Our local team was very pleased to meet many visitors. Our many contacts were very satisfied to see there a French version, but also a Dutch version of our main catalogue of products.
Labomat is now quite present in Belgium.

InCosmetics 2003 exhibition - Paris

The In-Cosmetics show took place from the 1 to 3 April 2003. It is a significant appointment in the field of cosmetics, perfumes and beauty products.
We mainly presented there the new Brookfield viscometers and rheometers , the Dr Lange spectrocolorimeters and our cosmetic range of decorative glitters.

As always for this show, we were pleased to share our stand with our sister-company Chimilab Essor, company marketing chemicals and raw materials in particular for the cosmetic industry. You can visit their web site for more details on the activities of Chimilab Essor.

We hope that you liked reading our newsletter and it provided information of particular use to you. We await your comments and suggestions.
