Since the beginning of 2003, a new programmable control panel replace the previous push-button controler.

These new cabinets that we presented you in our January 2003 Labomat News brings variety of advanced features... but even if the use of these cabinets is still simple, the way to adjust parameters, automatic sequence and timers for life lamp duration needs more attention. The English operating manual is available, but for French speaking people, it is not so clear... That's why Labomat have done its best to propose a French manual. Rotating drum chamber attempts to achieve uniformity of exposure conditions by revolving test specimens in a corrousel-like fashion around the Xenon lamp. This expensive system deduce space for samples and does not reduce top-to-bottom variation. In a static array, such as the Q-Sun Xenon Test Chamber, a flat, stationary specimen tray is used. In the Q-Sun, the reflective chamber walls and the internal reflectors on the lamp housings are designed to maximize irradiance uniformity. Since the samples are placed horizontally, top-to-bottom variations do not occur.

The old standards have been revised, and the new performance-based standards say that it is alright to use innovative new technologies such as a static, flat-plane specimen mounting system. The standards say it. Now the data proves it. A new technical paper LX-5021 titled "Xenon Arc Exposure results : Rotating & Static Specimen mounting Systems compared" compares the results from a serie of studies conducted using flat-array style and rotating drum style equipment. Showing the data from almost 300 specimens from nine separate material groups, the paper proves that remarkable agreement is achievable between the two systems. The new improvement of the Programmable DV2+ to the DV2+ Pro is quiet imperceptible but is of a great importance. The RS232 data output is now bidirectional. In standard use, we mean without computer and softwre, no changes are visible except the color of the housing which is now blue (it was grey). However, the new bidirectional output allows the control of the viscosimeter by the computer and the use of the sophisticated Rheoclac system. The new DV2+ Pro can now work like a DV3. From the computer, the speed of rotation can be fixed from 0.01 RPM to 200 RPM by speps of 0.1 RPM. That means more than 2000 different speeds ! With the Small Sample Adapter (coaxial geometry) you can now record many datas and plot precise rheogram for exact analysis. You can also fix the speed to reach specific shear rate (for exemple 10 s-1 or 100 s-1). That was not so easy in the past with only 54 speeds.

Since 1934, the good old dial reading viscometer from Brookfield is still exactly the same or nearly. However, certain spare parts are no longer available because they are of too old technologies. This is the case for exemple for the motor or the gearwheel system. When these parts are faulty, we propose an upgrade for a step-by-step motor of new technology. But it is not necessary for you to wait that these pieces get faulty ! You can already replace your old noisy 4 or 8 speeds motor by a new 10 speeds silent motor! This change can give more possibilities to your present viscometer, mainly if it is a LVF or RVF system.

Our decorative glitters has recently been used by a well-known artist from Paris, Mr Vincent BEAURIN during an contemporary art exhibition at the Fondation Cartier. The exhibition called "Yanomami, the spirit of the forest" was the result of the meeting between international contemporary artists and eleven shamans from Watoriki, a yanomami village in Bresil.

For Vincent BEAURIN :
"These signs can be compared to the visions of the yanomami shamans. Their skins, covered with glitters, echoes the magnificent and sparkling brightness of the animal ancestor spirits."
